30X Faster Grids And Better MCP Tools
· by Kjell
I've been measuring grid view performance for weeks and quietly grinding at it. Tonight the work paid off - grid views are now up to thirty times faster than they were a release ago. On my reference library, scrolling is instant. No stutter, no deferred image loads, no jank. It's the kind of change where the software suddenly feels like a different app, even though every pixel is in the same place.
The other half of the evening went to new MCP tools. There's now a search by contributor, which lets you pull up everything in your library touched by a specific producer or engineer - a workflow I've wanted for a long time. There are also tools to fetch album and track credits directly, so an assistant can talk intelligently about the session behind a recording. And a shuffle playlist tool, which is exactly what it sounds like: take any playlist, generated or otherwise, and mix it up.
The rest was general maintenance - the quiet kind of tweaks that don't show up in release notes but that the whole app rests on.
